What is Software Testing?

Software Testing is considered as verifying whether the developed system or component meets the requirement specification. During this process, bugs/defects, errors, missing requirements can be found.

Why Software Testing is Important?

There are many reasons as to testing being important

• To identify potential defects and errors during developmental stages.
• To ensure the quality of the product. A quality product provided to customers helps build their confidence & satisfaction.
• To ensure the expected level of performance is there in the application.
• Testing is required while providing customer services such as high-quality product delivery or software application that requires minimal maintenance costs and thus shows straightforward, consistent and reliable results.
• To make sure that the application does not lead to failures as it may result in additional costs in the future or in the later stages of development.
• If the application is mission critical, it may lead to failures that could be catastrophic or high financial losses.

Software Testing Objectives

• Identify software errors/defects that the programmer may create while developing.
• To find out the defects or issues occurring in the application before it is encountered by the end user at the user acceptance testing.
• Gaining confidence in the software application and providing information about the quality level.
• To prevent defects in the application.
• Enduring that the end result meets the business and customer requirements.
• It satisfies BRS as Business Requirement Specification and SRS as well as System Requirement Specifications.
• Providing high quality product to the customers.
  
• To measure the access privileges and security level of the application.
